Senator Bomai breaks jinx, offers foreign scholarship to disabled persons, women, others

The Senator Representing Yobe South, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai has broken the jinx and offered foreign scholarships to disabled persons, women, and others in his constituency to pursue their Master’ degrees and Doctorate’ degrees overseas.
Speaking during the Symbolic presentation of provisional scholarship certificates at the College of Administration, Management and Technology Potiskum Yobe State, Senator Bomai represented by the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Professor Mohammed Munkaila of the University of Maiduguri revealed the scholarship awards were selected based on merit.

“You could remembers sometimes back, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai set up a committee to screen individuals from the Yobe south that are aspiring to further their studies to apply for free foreign scholarships. After aptitude test, the best 20 were picked each from Potiskum, Nangere, Fika and Fune local government areas of the zone”
“Presently, we have 100 candidates that have been issued provisional fully funded foreign scholarship. Out of the 100 number, 70 will be pursuing their Masters’ Degree while the remaining 30 to go for their Doctorates’ Degree” he said.
He further explained, after obtaining the relevant travelling documents, the final list of the successful candidates would be released through the committee and priority is given to women and persons with disabilities.
The Senator also granted cash supports to 3,500 final year students of the constituency, cash support for female undergraduates and Educational support for undergraduate students Living with Disabilities.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Yobe State University Damaturu, University of Maiduguri, Federal University Gashua, College of Administration, Management and Technology Potiskum, Yobe state.
Others include Umar Suleiman College of Education Gashua and Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum (B.Tech) programme, Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic Geidam and College of Nursing, Federal Medical Centre Nguru in Yobe state.
