Borno Commissioner feeds Zoo Animals During Eid
By Habiba Ahmed, Maiduguri
While many marked the Eid el-Kabir celebration in the warmth of their homes, surrounded by family, friends, and festive cheer, Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Comrade Sainna Buba, chose to extend the spirit of love and generosity beyond the human circle.
In a heartwarming and uncommon act of kindness, the commissioner visited the Maiduguri Central Park Zoo — not just for tourism, but to share the joy of the season with the animals who often go unnoticed during such celebrations.
Accompanied by some of his family members and adorable children, Comrade Buba personally delivered a truckload of fresh, healthy, and nutritious goodies tailored to suit the dietary needs of the zoo’s various animals.
It was a remarkable sight as the monkeys leaped in delight, particularly enjoying their share of juicy watermelons, cheerfully distributed by zoo attendants. Other animals were not left out, as each received special treats suited to their breed and nutrition requirements.
This thoughtful gesture not only added life and excitement to the zoo but also demonstrated the commissioner’s deep sense of empathy and humanity — a rare quality in today’s fast-paced world.
Comrade Sainna Buba’s actions serve as a shining example of compassionate leadership. In a world that often forgets the voiceless, he reminds us all that kindness knows no species.
He called on fellow public servants, citizens, and community leaders to extend their goodwill during festive seasons not only to fellow humans but to all of God’s creations — including animals, who deserve to feel the love too.
Indeed, Eid is about sacrifice, generosity, and compassion. And Comrade Sainna Buba has shown us how powerful such virtues can be when extended beyond boundaries.
