Tribute to the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command On the Occasion of His Retirement
By ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso
“Retirement marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new, exciting journey in life.”
It is with immense respect and heartfelt appreciation that I pay tribute to CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, psc, an accomplished and seasoned police officer whose legacy is defined by mentorship, coaching, professionalism, humility, and unwavering dedication to the Nigeria Police Force.
CP ML Yusufu is a versatile and veteran officer who has served meritoriously across various key departments of the Force, ranging from administration and operations to intelligence and criminal investigations. Since joining the Nigeria Police Force on 18th May, 1992 as part of Cadet ASP Course 17, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service.
Personally, my journey and accomplishments would be incomplete without acknowledging the noble wisdom and mentorship of CP ML Yusufu. He nurtured me from the ground-up, transforming my path with a balance of discipline and encouragement. It’s no wonder I’m often referred to as “Yaron Oga”meaning “Oga’s Boy” in Hausa a title I wear with pride and humility.
CP ML Yusufu is widely known for his soft-hearted personality, disciplined demeanor, unrelenting hard work 24/7, and strict adherence to the ethics and rules of engagement. Under his leadership, the Borno State Police Command recorded remarkable achievements. His tenure was marked by the successful curtailment of youth gangsterism, a significant reduction in crime, and the enhancement of officers’ and men’s capacity through robust training and retraining programs.
Through his expertise in community policing, he bridged the gap between the police and the public, thereby strengthening trust and collaboration. His legacy also includes infrastructural transformations, renovating the command conference hall, constructing a state-of-the-art entrance gate, opening an emergency medical sick bay for both officers and suspects on detention, and creating a more conducive working environment at the Police Headquarters in Maiduguri.
Sir, your tenacity, selflessness, and passion for service will be remembered in the annals of contemporary policing.
As you reach the pinnacle of a distinguished career, I pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless you with long life, good health, and fulfillment in this new phase of life.
Happy 60th Birthday and Happy Retirement sir!
