The Network of Civil Society Organizations in Borno State (NECSOB) expresses deep sorrow and unwavering solidarity with His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Executive Governor of Borno State, and the resilient people of the state amidst the recent surge in violent attacks that have led to significant loss of lives and rising security concerns.
In a statement by Bulama Abiso
Executive Director Network of Civil Society Organizations in Borno State (NECSOB) to newsmen in Maiduguri on Wednesday.
In recent weeks, Borno State has experienced a disturbing escalation of attacks linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), affecting both civilians and security forces.
A devastating roadside bomb along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road, one of the state’s major civilian and humanitarian, routed and claimed multiple lives and caused extensive damage.
Similarly, a deadly explosion between Rann and Gamboru killed at least 26 civilians, including women and children, In addition, a recent ambush on military personnel in Marte Local Government Area further heightened fears over the safety of strategic and border communities.
These attacks collectively underscore the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups and their intent to destabilize peace-building efforts across the region.
The Network sympathizes with the military and all those who lost loved ones in these attacks. We honor the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces and share in the grief of every affected family and community.
NECSOB commends the strong and courageous leadership of Governor Zulum, whose consistent advocacy and swift responses to security challenges remain a beacon of hope for the people of Borno.
His tireless engagement with federal authorities continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to protecting lives and restoring stability.
In light of these developments, NECSOB calls for strengthened federal security support, enhanced intelligence coordination, and deeper community engagement to improve early warning systems and counter violent extremism.
We also urge immediate humanitarian and psychosocial assistance for victims, including displaced families and injured security personnel.
NECSOB reaffirms its commitment to working alongside the Borno State Government, security agencies, humanitarian actors, and grassroots stakeholders to consolidate peace efforts and safeguard the future of the state.
Let us turn our collective grief into renewed resolve. Together, we can protect our communities and build a peaceful and resilient Borno.
