Insecurity: Bandits Kills 11 Vigilante Groups In Bauchi

Armed persons have killed at least 11 members of a vigilante group at Mansur village in Gwana district of Alkaleri Local Government of Bauchi State.
Abu Hassan, a local resident said the attackers also rustled many livestock from the community, killing at 11 members of vigilantes asssisting the security agencies in the areas.
Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of Bauchi State on Monday said to collaborate with the security agencies in the State in other to bring the perpetrators that killed many vigilante groups to justice in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
In a press release signed by the Governor’s adviser media and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado and made available to newsmen in the State.
He reiterates the government’s unwavering commitment to tackling all forms of insecurity across the state.
” Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has received with deep sorrow preliminary reports indicating that members of professional hunters on a route patrol along Duguri, Mansur and Dajin Mada forest were ambushed and killed by suspected bandits in Mansur village, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
“This heinous and senseless act of violence is a painful reminder of the continued threat posed by criminal elements who seek to disrupt the peace and security of our communities. The Governor extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Alkaleri Local Government, and indeed the entire Bauchi State.” The statement concluded.
The Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir prays for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty to protect their communities.
He calls on residents to stand united and work hand-in-hand with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can help prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the killings of vigilante groups who were on routine patrol by the armed bandits in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the State.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Police Command spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil and made available to newsmen in Bauchi.
“On 4th May 2025, at about 09:40 hours, the Command received a report from Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters regarding an incident that occurred earlier that same day at about 05:40 hours. A combined team of professional hunters from Duguri and Gwana District, while on a routine patrol along Duguri, Mansur, and the Dajin Madam forest bordering Bauchi and Plateau State, encountered an ambush by armed bandits.
Addind that “This confrontation resulted in numerous casualties on both sides, including members of the vigilante group and the bandits themselves”
“Upon receiving the report, a team of operational tactical teams was dispatched to the scene, where they recovered bodies of casualties. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased included both quasi-security operatives and civilians from Sabuwar Sara village, who were mercilessly shot by the bandits while attempting to flee from the attack”
The Command has mandated a specialised team to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the act and individuals found to be connected.
“The state Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has deployed tactical teams to Mansur village in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi following a visit to relevant stakeholders. He has strongly condemned the recent killings, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives.
“The Commissioner characterised these acts as utterly reprehensible and a significant threat to the peace and security of the state and assured the are in Full-Scale to bring the perpetrators to book.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, extends his sincere condolences to the families of the vigilante groups who lost their lives during battle with bandits.
