Fintiri swears-in Fufore LG chair

Following the public outcry, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has presided over the swearing-in of Peace Samson Audu as the Chairperson of Fufore Local Government Area, following the demise of Alhaji Shuaibu Babas.
The oath of office and allegiance were administered on the new chairperson by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, at the Council Chamber, Government House, Yola.
The government has faced deluge of criticisms over the delay of swearing in Peace Audu following the death of her predecessor Shuaibu Babas on 23 April 2025 with some accusing the governor of pandering to religious and gender biases.
Governor Fintiri expressed confidence in the new chairperson’s capacity to lead, describing her as a cherished member of the PDP family who has consistently demonstrated commitment and competence.
He noted that all constitutional procedures were duly followed in her appointment, emphasizing that she had already been acting as chairperson while the late chairman was tending to his fragile health thereby ensuring there was no leadership vacuum.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to equity, the governor stated that there is no place for religious or tribal bigotry in his government. He added that his government treats everyone fairly—an approach he credited for the peace, progress, and development across the state.
He urged the new chairperson to remain guided by the oath she swore and to collaborate with all stakeholders to foster development, unity, and security in the area.
Governor Fintiri also called on residents to support the new leadership and to regard the chairperson as a mother figure devoted to the community’s well-being.
Reflecting on Adamawa’s transformation over the past six years, the governor expressed optimism about the state’s future, stating his belief that someone even better will continue the good work after his tenure.
Following wide consultations, he announced Sale Manu as the Vice Chairman of the Council.
In her remarks, Peace Samson Audu expressed mixed emotions—mourning the loss of her predecessor, whom she praised as a visionary leader with great plans for the local government.
She extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Fintiri, whom she described as her leader and mentor, for the confidence reposed in her.
She pledged her unwavering loyalty to the administration and assured the people of Fufore of transparent and purposeful whiles also welcoming constructive criticism as part of her commitment to effective governance.
