The Borno State Police Command has pledged to enhance community- personnel approach to enable build trust among the stakeholders in the state.
Speaking on Wednesday at an event organised to mark this year’s Nigeria Police Day in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital, Yusufu Lawal, the state Commissioner of Police, noted that community relations is key to modern policing.

The CP emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to public service, trust-building, and security.
“This celebration is not just about the police, but about the people we serve. We are here to engage, collaborate, and work together for a safer society,’ he said.
He assured of the command’s commitment to a successful celebration, featuring a week-long series of community-focused activities from April 2 to April 7.
Also speaking, Abatcha Umar, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Chairman, represented by Ismail Abdulkadir, thanked the CP for organizing the event and assured continuous support in combating crime.
Hajiya Kaltume Jafar, Deputy PCRC Chairwoman, highlighted the importance of honoring police officers, particularly in Borno State, who put their lives on the line daily to keep communities safe.
She emphasized the pivotal role of women in law enforcement support.
“As PCRC women, we have unique perspectives on the importance of law enforcement in our communities. We know that police officers are not just enforcers of the law but also guidance, mentors, and role models,” she said.
The event brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, government representatives, and key stakeholders to address security concerns, crime prevention strategies, and enhance cooperation between the police and the public.
