Police recover stolen transformers in Rivers
The Rivers state police command says it has arrested a 52-year-old man identified as Raphael and other accomplices over the stealing of power transformers worth over fifty two million naira.
The command in a statement by his spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko made available to newsmen.
She said the suspects were arrested through intelligence gathering, which led to the recovery of transformers stolen from NNPC estate in Port Harcourt.
The suspects were said to have confessed to the crime during the investigation, and also admitted being members of a syndicate specializing in vandalizing and stealing transformers and electrical installations in Rivers state.
Exhibits and the suspects are currently in the custody of the police while investigation and efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
