Maj Gen Oyinlola Assumes Command of Operation Safe Haven
Major General EF Oyinlola has assumed command of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), replacing Major General AE Abubakar who has been appointed Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College.
This is contained in a statement issued by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Military Information Officer, Operation SAFE HAVEN, on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
During the handover ceremony at the OPSH headquarters in Jos, Plateau State, Major General Abubakar thanked personnel for their support during his tenure.
He acknowledged the contributions of key stakeholders in enhancing security and stability within the operation’s area of responsibility.
“I task personnel of the operation to support the incoming commander so as to consolidate on the operational gains of the past,” said Major General Abubakar.
Major General Oyinlola, in his maiden remarks, commended his predecessor for his leadership and vision. “I will build upon the successes achieved by my predecessor,” he said.
“My command philosophy will be hinged on sound administration and prioritizing the wellbeing of troops.”
He charged officers and men to remain disciplined and dedicated to ending the cycle of violence within the Joint Operations Area.
The handover ceremony included the signing of handover notes, the presentation of the OPSH command insignia, an address to troops, a change of flags, and a group photograph.
