Troops Nab Gunrunner, Recover Submachine Gun in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspected gunrunner in Taraba State and recovered an illegally fabricated submachine gun.
 
This is contained in a statement issued by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, January 16, 2025.
 
According to the statement, acting on credible intelligence, troops conducted a search operation at the suspect’s residence in Maraban Gassol of Gassol Local Government Area on January 13, 2025. 
 
During the search, they discovered and recovered one fabricated submachine gun. 
 
“Speaking on the successful operations, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the troops and reassured the good people of Taraba State of the Brigade’s resolve to continue to maintain peace and combat illicit arms proliferation within the State,” the statement read.
 
The statement urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to enable them to effectively address security challenges.
