Nigeria Customs Records Historic N6.105 Trillion Revenue Collection in 202
The Nigeria Customs Service Records Historic announced a record-breaking revenue collection of N6.105 trillion, surpassing its target by 20.2% in 2024.
This was disclosed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, when he presented the Nigeria Customs Service’s 2024 performance report in a press briefing.
The briefing took place at the Nigeria Customs Service Corporate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday.
“This remarkable achievement represents a significant 90.4% increase from our 2023 collection and marks the highest year-on-year increase recorded by the service in recent times,” stated Comptroller-General Adeniyi.
The report emphasised the service’s commitment to both revenue generation and trade facilitation.
Key achievements include the successful implementation of the Advanced Ruling system, the pilot phase of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) program, and the launch of the ‘B’Odogwu’ customs clearance platform.
Furthermore, the service strengthened its enforcement activities, resulting in significant seizures of arms, ammunition, narcotics, and other contraband.
“The service maintained its commitment to strategic human capital development,” said Comptroller-General Adeniyi.
“Capacity-building initiatives were designed to enhance both individual competencies and organisational capabilities.”
The report noted the commencement of the phased relocation of the service to the new corporate headquarters building as a significant milestone in infrastructure development.
Comptroller-General Adeniyi concluded by expressing his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and the entire staff of the Nigeria Customs Service for their support and dedication.
