Two Dead, Others Injured As Deadly Blast Hits FCT Islamic School
A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) explosion at Tsangagyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Kuchibuyi Village, leaving two people dead and two others critically injured.
Located at the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the explosion happened around 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning, according to a statement by the FCT Police Command.
The police, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and the area commander of Kubwa, responded swiftly to the distress call from the Sarki of Kuchibuyi.
The police revealed that three men from Katsina had visited Mallam Adamu Ashimu, the owner of the school, earlier that day.
It is suspected that they brought an improvised explosive device (IED) to the school.
Two of the men died in the explosion while tampering with the device, and a female trader nearby sustained severe injuries.
The police have taken Mallam Adamu Ashimu into custody for questioning as investigations continue.
The FCT Bomb Squad recovered remnants of the explosive device, confirming it was an IED.
Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Olatunji Disu, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or items to the authorities immediately.
