Katsina Gov’t Lauds Military’s Successful Operation Against Bandits in Jibia
The Katsina State Government has commended the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma and troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for a successful joint operation against bandits in Jibia Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Dr. Nasir Muazu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
According to the statement, the operation, conducted on January 4, resulted in the neutralisation of 80 bandits, the injury of several others, and the destruction of their hideouts and operational facilities.
“The joint efforts of the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2 and the 17 Brigade have been well appreciated by the government and the peace-loving people of Katsina State,” Muazu said in the statement.
The operation, based on credible intelligence, targeted bandit camps in Kadoji, Matso-Matso, Bagga, Dogon Marke, and Takatsaba, which were known to be linked to banditry activities impacting Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa local government areas.
Muazu commended the troops for their unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in Katsina State and the broader North West region.
He emphasised the significance of such operations in dismantling criminal networks.
The government urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information to sustain the ongoing efforts against banditry and other forms of insecurity in the state.
