Borno Redeploys 2,579 Underperforming Teachers to LGA Service
The Borno State government has announced the redeployment of 2,579 teachers who could not measure up to the required teaching standard from local government education authorities (LGEAs) to their respective local government areas.
Â
This is contained in a statement by Mohammed Shettima, the Director of Inspectorate and Monitoring, Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, on Tuesday.Â
Â
According to the statement, this action follows a report submitted by a committee tasked with evaluating the performance of LGEA staff.Â
Â
“His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Governor of Borno State, has directed that names of all Local Education Authority staff who could not measure up to the required teaching standard be redeployed to the main local government to be reassigned other schedules of responsibilities.” The statement reads.
Â
A list attached to the Ministry’s directive details the number of teachers to be transferred from each LGEA.Â
Â
The redeployed teachers will be assigned new responsibilities in their respective local government councils.
Â
“This letter is copied to the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Auditor General Local Government Audit Department and all Zonal Inspectors for their information and further necessary action,” the Ministry’s statement concluded.
Â
Recall that the redeployment was announced by the Commissioner for education, Science, technology and Innovation, Engineer Lawan Wakilbe, during the last phase of the graduation ceremony of the trainable teachers on Monday.
