From Faruk Bamalli, Jalingo
537 women and youth have been trained on soap and liquid soap production in the Gassol local government area of Taraba state.
The training, which covered two wards, was sponsored by the Border Communities Development Agency and facilitated by former Senator Abubakar Tutare from the Taraba Central senatorial zone.
The training was part of an entrepreneurship program for rural communities aimed at empowering women and youth through entrepreneurship training.
Mr. Nesting Ovie, a Director in the agency, said the training programme was to impact skills to the participants on how to make bar and liquid soap, including other household items.
He said the participants, when fully equipped with required skills, would be self-reliant and also teach others.
Mallum Abuga, the Director of Ladun Global Concept Limited, which conducted the training program, advised the participants to put into practice what they were taught, adding that entrepreneurship training is important because it makes both women and youth become self-reliant.
He said soap production is viable because of the demand for soap in every home and therefore urged the participants to utilize the skills they acquired to boost their income.
A community leader, Sani Gunduma, who spoke on behalf of the facilitator, commended the Border Communities Agency for offering the training opportunity to the hundreds of women and youth in the community.
He said the skills acquired will make the beneficiaries self-reliant and even make them employers of labor in their respective villages and towns.
During the opening remarks, Alhaji Isa Gunduma, the chairman of the occasion, urged participants to maximize the opportunity by learning and practicing the skills taught during the training.
He encouraged them to apply the knowledge for personal and communal benefit, emphasizing the transformative potentials of the initiative.
Mallum Abuga, the Chief Executive Officer of Ladun Global Concept Limited, assured participants of the far-reaching benefits of the program. “The knowledge and skills you gain from this training will not only benefit you personally but will also contribute to the overall growth and development of your community,” he stated.
In her address, Mrs. Hauwa Pogumai, a program facilitator, highlighted the importance of applying the acquired skills to make a positive impact.
She applauded the organizers for their dedication and the participants for their commitment to excellence.
Mrs. Pogumai further encouraged the trainees to collaborate and work towards building a better future for themselves and their communities.
It was observed that the training underscores the commitment of Senator Abubakar Tutare, the Border Communities Development Agency, and Ladun Global Concept Limited to skill acquisition and economic empowerment in rural communities.
